Back in February 2020, the National Women in Roofing (NWIR) Oregon chapter teamed up with A Village for One to put a roof on Anisa’s Place. A Village for One is an organization that helps children who have been victims of sex trafficking. The nonprofit, which is near and dear to the hearts of those in the NWIR Oregon council, is dedicated to supporting and helping young female and female-identifying sex trafficking survivors ages 12- 18.
Anisa’s Place is a shelter for A Village of One, named after Anisa Swearingen, a sexually exploited teen who was murdered in 2012. They host six clients at a time and work with them to provide a holistic healthcare approach, meeting each individual’s physical, mental and spiritual needs.
This holiday season, the NWiR Oregon council has once more taken to heart getting involved with community outreach and the mission of women helping women. Working with a Village for One to provide Christmas gifts to the girls, NWiR provided all of Anisa’s Place with ALL of the Christmas wish list gifts this year.
On December 21, NWiR’s Oregon chapter met at Pure Bliss Bakery before heading to the house and delivering all of the requested Christmas gifts to Anisa’s Place. These beautifully wrapped gifts will help empower these young ladies and ultimately bring them a sense of home for the holidays.
Do you know of someone in the industry who is ‘doing good deeds’ in their community? Help us catch them at it. Send news and information to info@rooferscoffeeshop.com.
