Over the years, Sherwin-Williams has become a household name for their work in the paint industry and has expanded to include coil coatings, and they’re not slowing down anytime soon. During the 2024 International Roofing Expo (IRE), we got to catch up with Mark McDonald at our soundstage and on the tradeshow floor to talk about what’s coming up for the company.
A focus for the company is on refining their classic products, like their silicon modified polyester, Weather XL. Mark explained, “One of the many reasons why people trust Sherwin-Williams is because of the reliable flagship products that come in a beautiful array of colors. We also recognize that we always want to fulfill the new needs of our customer base.”
That’s what they’re doing with products like Fluropon. This line comes in a wide range of colors for whatever aesthetic customers desire and is a high-performing product that helps lower energy costs through reflectivity. Another product line they’ve released is Emulate. This line is a curated collection of metal coatings that create the aesthetic of natural materials such as wood and stone. These are only two examples of what Mark describes as Sherwin-Williams constant “search to add value to our customer base.”
Sherwin-Williams is also pushing the industry forward behind the scenes. Mark emphasized this year’s release of the MetalVue program and what it can do for contractors and manufacturers. This program is designed for companies of all sizes in the home improvement and asphalt retail industries, with the goal of “bringing the Sherwin-Williams brand along with the ability to address a new market to our trusted manufacturers.” What does that look like? MetalVue creates a vertical space in the industry where they can access everything from service, sales and installation training to collateral support.
Mark explained, “What we’re addressing with this program is their entire workflow. So, when a home improvement company, an asphalt retailer or a home renovator is looking to get into a new operation, they want support and they want service, and they want to be able to market the new products, to sell them and have confidence in them.” That’s what MetalVue provides, the tools and confidence for companies to try new things.
