Starting off the new year with a new roof

Starting off the new year with a new roof

Learn how two companies helped one Mississippi homeowner stay dry in the new year.

Booneville, Mississippi is known for their Southern hospitality. It was on full display December 2024 when Phoenix Building Solutions stepped in to help a Booneville homeowner, Janet Childress, with a leaking roof.

Phoenix Building Solutions, which is based out of Tupelo, Mississippi, has been serving their region for over 50 years. They are experts at designing and supplying custom metal solutions and pride themselves in providing “the expertise and materials you need to bring your vision to life.”

Donating the materials for a roof was a new venture for the company, but one that they are excited to continue. Phoenix co-founder Aaron Brewer shared with Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, “We started it a few years ago and it's really grown, and we just want to give back to the community. We've been planning it for a while and tried to do something for Christmas but things didn't work out timing-wise. Sometimes the Lord puts things on you to do something at a certain time, and here we are, just trying to help a lady on a fixed income who has some bad leaks in her roof by providing a new roof.”

The entire project was pulled off through a partnership with Superior Construction, who provided the labor needed to install the donated materials. This American family owned contractor was originally established in the 1920s and is now on their fourth generation of family business owners. One of the contractors at Superior Construction, Ricky McCaslin, shared a few thoughts on the project, saying, “They're suffering a lot of damage on the inside from the water getting in but, once we get the roof on, they'll be able to start work on the inside.”

As for Janet, she is incredibly thankful for both companies' efforts. She explained what it was like watching her roof leak every time it rained, saying, “I thought my kitchen ceiling was going to come down. It was pretty bad.” Thanks to Phoenix Building Solutions and Superior Construction, she kicked off 2025 with a new roof.
