Every month, the MetalCoffeeShop crew sends a prompt or question to the industry experts in our influencer program to create an avenue for them to share their knowledge and experience. This February, we asked "What steps do you take to ensure your subcontractor's work and safety is aligned with your company to avoid risk?"
Check out what Jena Jackson from Indiana Metal, Inc. had to say:
"Quality workmanship is something that everybody I know in the industry has struggled with at one time or another. As a supplier, the thought of our product being installed incorrectly or in a manner that doesn’t reflect the workmanship I’d expect is something that I, as well as the entire Indiana Metal team, has struggled with the thought of for years. In recent months we’ve made strides to help do our part to alleviate subpar workmanship, help contractors find reputable sub crews and give our contractor customers the confidence to sell metal and know the install won’t haunt them.
In 2023 we rolled out our Weathertight Warranty Program exclusively to contractors. Now, if a contractor purchases their roofing package through Indiana Metal, uses a sub crew certified by Indiana Metal and follows the manufacturer install specs, the job qualifies for a weathertight warranty which Indiana Metal will stand behind for 5 to 20 years, depending on which warranty level is chosen by the contractor.
We’ve seen great success with this program so far, it’s removed so much doubt from the minds of contractors knowing their sub crews are supplier certified. We’re always looking for great sub crews who are looking to get certified so we can expand our network and continue to pair contractors up with available crews. We hope sub crews and contractors both reach out to learn more if they’re interested in certification or in finding a crew to help with their installs!"
