HubSpot's research reveals that social media posts featuring images are 650% more engaging than those without, enhancing user interaction significantly. This increased engagement is crucial for roofing businesses, as images captured from the rooftops provide a unique perspective rarely seen by homeowners, making these posts particularly eye-catching.
Unless you’ve spent a considerable amount of money for paid advertising such as billboards, newspaper ads and TV commercials, there’s a good chance your “brand” doesn’t have much exposure beyond the sign on your trucks. That’s why you should pay attention to your social media presence. Posting on a social media channel like Facebook is free, and it is frequented by customers and potential customers alike. Here at MARCO Industries, we’ve heard of roofing companies finding success on social media by consistently posting on Facebook.
Here are some tips:
1 - Add followers: When you meet people in the field or talk with clients, try to add them to your Facebook contacts. The more people following you, the more people will see your posts.
2 - Be consistent: One post every six months won’t move the needle. Post at least once a week.
3 - Don’t always sell: If every post you do is a hard sell, people will start ignoring your posts or unfollow you. Be sure to also post things of interest such as interesting photos from your unique up-on-the-roof point of view of the neighborhood below, wildlife, or a pretty view. One funny idea is an ongoing series of “today’s find” of interesting stuff you’ve found up on the roof (toys, animal nest, etc.).
4 - Be informative: In addition to pics that don’t necessarily have to do with roofing, mix in posts that can educate your customers and showcase your expertise. Some ideas are posting pics of mistakes you find on a roof that homeowners never know about or see, storm damage, before and after photos of your work… the list goes on. If nothing spectacular is happening, consider posting updates on jobs you are working on showing what you are doing. Give your followers insight into the roofing process (how and why you are doing these steps, the importance of proper ventilation, working with insurance for roof damage claims, etc.).
Not using social media for your business is a missed opportunity to get your name out there and connect with customers and potential customers. And posting with images will help your cause even more. People are naturally drawn to images, and social media platforms have evolved to prioritize visual content. Best of all, social media photography fosters a sense of authenticity and transparency, crucial elements in building trust with your audience.
It's a competitive business. Whatever you can do to get your name out there can only help. Try upping your game on social media with the tips above. Your bottom line will thank you.
