Editor's note: The following is the transcript of a live interview with MCS Influencer Robert Tiffin. You can read the interview below or listen to the podcast.
Robert Tiffin: Hello, I'm Robert Tiffin, the President of the Metal Building Contractors and Erectors Association or the MVCEA. I've been asked to answer the question of what can we do to try to grow and train the future generation for the metal building industry. Well, as the president of the MVCEA, we go at it three different ways. One, raising awareness. So we position ourselves, our chapters, if you will, out amongst the people in schools, career fairs and telling young groups and within our chapters about our industry, letting them know that there's a rewarding career path ahead of them in the metal building industry. Secondly, probably the most important, the education. Once we let people know about our industry and the opportunities, we educate them to become more capable of understanding the paths ahead of them, to become better workers, to become more safe workers, which is paramount to our industry.
Third, once we have the people interested and we have them educated, then let's get the practical application. So, the MVCEA offers mentorship programs. Check out our website. Mentorship programs can then lead to apprenticeship programs. This, along with education and raising awareness, provides a path forward to grow our industry. If you will accept this challenge, go to the MVCEA.org website, learn a bit more about what Metal Building and Contractors or Erectors Association is doing to grow our industry and then when this video is over, stop, text a friend or one of your network. That will help us grow. Appreciate it.
