Editor's note: The following is the transcript of a live interview with Shawn Feurer of Shawn Feurer Consulting. You can read the interview below or listen to the podcast.
Intro: Hello, everyone. My name is Megan Ellsworth here at metalcoffeeshop.com, and I am here on a very special MetalCast to talk about MetalVue and the Inner BluePrint program. I'm here with Shawn Feurer. So excited, Shawn, to get to meet you and chat with you. Hi.
Shawn Feurer: Hey, I'm so excited to be here and share some more information about the tools we have available to contractors to help not only their businesses get better, but their lives in general.
Megan Ellsworth: Absolutely. That's so exciting. We're so happy to have you a part of the MetalVue program, and I'm excited to learn more. I'll just let you dive right in and introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about you and tell me about your title, the Universal Mind Set Disrupter.
Shawn Feurer: Disrupter, yes. Hopefully I disrupt some thoughts today and I can justify my title, my story.
I grew up in the home improvement business, specifically siding windows and roofing. I met my stepdad who raised me when I was six years old. He put me to work in the family business at a very young age, went to college, got a business degree, but just found my passion was in the business. I was learning more actually working with my dad at the company. This is no knock on college, but I loved my college experience, but I just loved the home improvement business, helping people improve their homes, working with the different parts of the company, spent about 20 years doing that very successfully.
Part of my story and part of the reason Inner BluePrint is a program today is when I turned about 40, I ran into some issues. I realized as hard as I'd worked on the outside, I had some inside work to do. I built a successful business with my father. I had a beautiful home, four amazing kids, wife at the time and I ended up going through a divorce. I ended up short selling a million-dollar house. I ended up walking away from the family business. I ended up having both my mom and stepdad die within a four-year period.
Life really threw me some challenges, and it really got me going inside of what's inside of me and that's how I discovered Inner BluePrint. But I share my background. I have over 20 years of practical, real-world experience in the roofing world, in the home improvement world. When I left the family business, I didn't know what I wanted to do next. I know a lot of listeners are familiar with the Certified Contractors Network. I was a member of that organization for 10 years, very successfully implemented a lot of their processes. I went to work for them for five years. I became a business coach. I taught everything that I knew from my business in combination with all their powerful systems.
At about the five-year point is when I started this journey that's going to lead us to talking about Inner BluePrint today. What I was finding, and anyone who's worked with CCN, they've got good processes. If you use their business planning structure, if you use their sales process, it works. But it only works to the level of the belief of the mindset of the individual I plug into that program. And so for me, I really was getting frustrated. I was working with almost 70 companies. They all were paying quite a bit of money for some really good information, but they weren't implementing it. I left CCN to start my own business not even knowing what I was going to do, just knowing I needed to do something different to try to help people.
Again, I'd found some tools that I'd used from 2014 when I hit my rock bottom personally, financially, spiritually and emotionally, I did personal development work. I'd been a student of the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill since 2003. When I left CCN and started my journey for, how do I find this inner blueprint, how do I figure out how to do the work on the inside so when I do build stuff on the outside, I'm able to enjoy it and I'm not looking for exterior validation. Instead, I'm full from the inside out.
As part of this journey, I found a gentleman by the name of Bob Proctor. He's well known for his work in the hit movie back in 2006, The Secret. All about the law of attraction. He was a mindset and performance coach. I joined his organization, began teaching one of his programs called Thinking Into Results. Within the first six months, he had about 2000 coaches worldwide. I became top 20 in six months, joined his inner circle, mentored directly under him for a couple of years. He passed away a couple of years ago at 88 years old. Lived a beautiful life. As he used to say, he was healthy, wealthy and he had friends all over the world.
And so I had all this information, all this life experience. I was already coaching contractors on mindset. I decided about a year ago to create a program specifically designed for the roofing industry, for the home improvement space with all of my construction knowledge, with all of my personal development. To give myself a little bit of credentials For listeners that have never heard of me, I am a top student of Bob Proctor. I also have aligned with Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul, the Success Principles. I've done a lot of work with Jack. I actually facilitate with him. He does luxury retreats once a year that I get to co-facilitate with him.
I'm bringing to this program that I created, and it's called Inner BluePrint. It's a mindset program that helps you think better thoughts to get better results, and it's a combination and validation of 50 years of life. I just turned 51 last week.
Megan Ellsworth: Happy birthday.
Shawn Feurer: Thank you. 20 years of studying the book Think and Grow Rich, Bob Proctor's 50 years of studying that book, Bob Proctor's information. Jack Canfield, some of my personal mentors. Some people know Charlie Gindele. He's a legend in the home improvement industry. He's one of my personal mentor and friends. He taught me a lot about business planning, about marketing, about numbers.
Everything that I've ever learned, I've put in 12 modules that are the Inner BluePrint. Today I spend my days coaching contractors in mastermind groups, like-minded people categorized by where they fit in the groups working in six-month integrals. We do six-month programs. It's not a one and done. It takes a little bit of time to do some reprogramming in your mind, but that's the work we're doing today. We're bringing people together with common purpose, common goal. We're working on their mind set on the inside so they create better results on the outside.
Megan Ellsworth: Wow, that is huge.
Shawn Feurer: It really is.
Megan Ellsworth: That is so cool.
Shawn Feurer: Oh, thank you.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah, it really is. Like you said, I mean, where does it start? It all starts with your mindset. Exactly like you said, it all starts with you, your body, your health, and then you go from there. I mean, that's all you have at the end of the day. Ugh, this is so cool. Can you describe the BluePrint program a little bit more for those that are unfamiliar?
Shawn Feurer: Yeah, and I'd like to start with one reason that this really resonates with the home improvement and construction community in general is every single one of us has programs that are instilled into us. They're called paradigms. They run in our subconscious mind. They control up to 95% of our daily activity and our daily results, and they start at childhood.
For me, my experience, I came from a broken home. My mom and dad got divorced when I was two. A lot of roofing contractors I've worked with a lot of siding window contractors, we don't come from silver spoons. We come from challenging childhoods. Because of that, we're hard workers. We have a chip on our shoulder and we have something to prove, and that serves us very well up until it starts to hold us back. Some of the things that worked very well, building a company from one to three million in gross revenue, start to hold us back. That's where I do help.
I always joke. I'm the guy that can make a 300 pound muscly, rough and tough, roofer tattooed, rough exterior come to tears, come to an emotional side where he finds that he's compensating on the outside for some holes from his childhood where he wasn't treated the best, where he might have experienced some abuse, some abandonment, some emotional things. Those affect us at every level. And so the program Inner BluePrint, it's not just about your business, it's about who you are. Because we don't attract what we want, we attract who we are. We go to work in Inner BluePrint in creating in three areas: our finances, our health and wellness and our relationship with self because every relationship is a mirror of that and we raise it.
Let me give a quick definition, mindset gets used a lot as one word, improve your mindset. It's actually two words. I ask the question and listeners, where's your mind set on money? There's a set point. There's an internal thermostat on what you think you're worth on, what you think you should earn. My job as a mind set coach is to raise your set point.
Health and wellness. Every single one of us, most of us have retirement age at 65. In our mind, statistically, most of us die within about a five to 10 year period after retirement because that age was set when that used to be the average life expectancy. I raise people's mind set points on health and wellness on both mental health and physical.
Myself personally, I said I just turned 51. I'm going to live to be a happy, healthy 100 years old and I affirm it every day. I put purpose behind my work. I fully believe I'm on my way to that. I'm prescription free, I'm healthier than I've ever been and I use my mind set work in my program to do that.
On your relationship with self, and this one's more challenging, especially for men to admit they've got some doubt. But if you think about it, you're always telling yourself you could do better. You're always telling yourself you might be lazy today or you might not feel like doing it, I help people improve that relationship with self. Even if you're doing good and you're a seven or eight out of 10, if you raise that one or two points, the result on the outside is groundbreaking.
That's the first step. We define what mind set is we do a self-evaluation. Where do you rank yourself in those three areas? You might pick one that's the lowest for you to work on at first.
The cool thing about my trifecta is as you work at one area, the other ones grow. The self-beliefs in your mind around money, affect your health and wellness and affect your relationship with you. Most people I work with, they've got a skinny triangle. They've got their finances or their focus and their health and wellness takes a back burner, and so does their self-love. I help people build a broad triangle that's full of energy, positive thinking on the health and wellness side, good self-love. As we widen the base, the money always gets better. The money always takes care of itself.
That's the idea of Inner BluePrint. Now, should we dive inside to what the program looks like?
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah, absolutely. I would love to learn how you build that triangle. Let's go right into it.
Shawn Feurer: Okay. It's basically built on 12 modules that are a little 15-minute lessons, too. Part of the program is understanding that we get programmed by spaced repetition of thought. You would think back in high school if you were trying to memorize something, you would say it, write it over and over. For me, the things that I thought about myself that weren't true, I heard that over and over from certain people, right? In order to change it, everything I do in Inner BluePrint is set up on repetition. We spend one week on each module, you listen to it every day, you do two rounds, so six months in the program initially.
We start with module one, and everyone you'll notice it's a question. The question is something to ask your higher self. For you, Megan, you can be thinking about this with me, module one is, what do you want? What do you want? Not what do you think you could have, but what do you really want? If time and money weren't an issue, what would you dream about? How much money would you have? What vacations would you take? What house would you live in?
This is a fun process for most people. It's one of the most challenging things you'll ever go through because we are programmed to think what we can have, not what we really want. To pulling yourself out of the logical mind into the imaginative mind is a really fun process. We spend a couple of weeks actually on the first module and then each additional one we spend one week.
The second module is, what holds you back? What holds you back? What's really cool as you dive into what you want, the first thing you're going to hear when you think big numbers, big vacations, big houses are all the reasons you shouldn't want it and all the reasons you shouldn't have it. We take a dive there. That's what's holding you back, what you think. Because as you dive into these, you're going to find they're not true. Time and money are an issue for everybody. Not enough time, not enough money. I help people become powerful money and time creators by pulling those self-loving beliefs out. We start with, what do you want? We then go to, what holds you back?
The next part is a really powerful, and it's your mind set. It's really diving into these set points. I call them pillars of belief. We have pillars of belief on money, on time, on relationships, on sex, on education, all kinds of things. Once we dive into what's holding you back, we want to take it deeper into what is really holding you back and where is your mind set?
It's been a fun process. I've got one client, he runs a 30 plus million dollars year company. Everybody around him thinks he's successful. As he dove into this work, he realized he grew up in a Catholic school system. He's the only one of his friend group that didn't go to college. And so even though he was even more successful than a lot of them, he felt uneducated. He hated going to conferences when people asked him where he would go to college and at some level. And so he went to work on this. Today he'll tell you, "I have a PhD in business and a PhD in life. I might not have a college degree..." He's just totally shifted it. And so that's part of this fun process is really diving into what is holding me back.
From there, we go into module four, and that is, how does your mind work? This is interesting because if you think about it, and we won't take as much time today, through school, people tell us how our brain works, how our heart works. In biology class, we learn about it. Nobody ever talks about how the mind works. Even in psychology, I took psychology in college, no one ever gave me a visual and a flow chart of this is how a thought comes to you. I give you not only a process, but a visual for the mind. It gives you a better understanding, a better awareness. Now, you can effectively go to work on what do I want. What holds me back? Now, I know how my mind works.
Module five, we dive into what are your superpowers. As human beings, God gave us this imagination, this sense of intuition, vulnerability, the ability to reframe and perceive things differently, power of perception. They're like muscles. If I don't use my muscles, they get weak. For a lot of roofers, your imagination has gotten weak. You stopped using it as a little kid and you've never used it again. I awaken the superpowers that will help your mind that you're now understanding better, create better results in your life.
Module six, we dive into who are you: the self-image. We do a really deep dive on this. My name is Shawn Feurer, and some people might say, "That's who you are." No, it's not. Those are two words that were given to me as a name, and they were also given a definition what it means to be a Feurer, what it means to be Shawn. A lot of that isn't true for me, right? And so as we dive into self-image and self-love and who you think you are versus who you might actually become, we see some growth. Again, I always say we don't attract what we want, we attract who we are. As we grow who we think we are, everything around us gets better. Any questions so far? I don't want to just ramble on about the program. It sounds interesting.
Megan Ellsworth: No yeah, it sounds so interesting. I would love to know why do you think this is so important for contractors in the metal and roofing industries. What's the key that they need for this?
Shawn Feurer: The key is the better understanding of the mind and the better understanding that they'll get in their way. Because like I said, a lot of roofers that I work with, they have a control paradigm. Because they grew up in a chaotic environment, they want to control everything. And even though they don't, they still. And so they get the company to a level and they start bringing in managers and more subcontractors, and then they micromanage at a subconscious level. I mean, you'll talk to them. They'll say, "I know better. I shouldn't have jumped in on that job, but I needed to get it done. And so I just did it." It gives them better awareness of that.
Most people say to themselves, "If I make a couple hundred thousand dollars a year, I'm good," right? Where does that come from, right? If you could make a million dollars and it wouldn't be that much harder, why would you limit yourself? When we start diving into it, so it's becoming better communicators, it's becoming better leaders, it's becoming better thinkers. It's getting out of your own paradigm.
And so that's where the value really is for the contractor is discovering the blind spots. If you could work not even harder, a little smarter, you could probably get some better results.
The other benefit, I call it the knowing-doing gap. You think about so many contractors know they should be doing more about their financials. They know they should understand their numbers. They might know they should increase. They have a lot of knowing that they're not taking action on. What I found the gap between what we know and what we do is the subconscious program, and so this program helps us remove that.
I'm in the best shape of my life. I've always known what to do. I just wasn't very good at doing it. Today I actually spend less time at the gym and more time with my affirmations with visualizing what I want my body to look like, and I now get the results. I've closed the gap. I always say we have a pandemic in America of health and wellness. We know we should drink more water. We know we should eat healthier food. We know we should exercise, and yet we don't. It's caused by the paradigm. It's caused by the programming.
As I work with people removing that, I love going to in-person events with my groups. They walk in, they look better than they've ever looked, they have more money in the bank than they've ever had and they've got better relationships. It's because they've taken a dive on everything we're talking about here.
Again, very fulfilling. I mean, I could tell you we could talk for 30 minutes about the wins in the last couple of weeks. I have veterans that have had PTSD that they took into their marriages, into their workplaces. I hold a special place for the military and veterans, and I'm actually doing a lot of work in that space right now with this material because there's so much. The things that are in us, they get put into us by programmed by hearing it. But the other thing that I didn't mention earlier is they also happen with emotional events. A lot of the military, they're in combat. They lose brothers. They don't get a chance to grieve. They come back and carry that with them, and they have no way to process it. My program actually helps with that.
For me, my biological dad leaving me twice by the time I was six, that was an emotional event that carried with me up until my 40s. Even though I thought I dealt with it, it still affected how I valued myself, how I treated relationships. I mean, every relationship I ever had, I never felt leaned in because I thought it would just disappear like my dad did. I've had some beautiful people come and go in my life, and I take a responsibility for not keeping them. Because at some level, I didn't feel I was worth it. I didn't feel like I was lovable. I had some paradigms.
Again, these are a lot of the ways that we can tie this back in. I'm not a new age woo-woo guy. Everything I will teach you is just framing a house or nailing shingles on a roof, right? It's very practical. It's understanding how does the mind work and then how does the mind work in the physical world. We all believe in gravity. Roofers tie off, right? The law of attraction, vibration, cause and effect. They're all science. The more we understand it at a very practical level, the easier we can implement it for better results in our life.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah. I think this is so true, and I love the way you framed it like that. This is just like putting shingles on your roof, building yourself a better foundation. Exactly. All the puns intended.
Shawn Feurer: Yes, yes.
Megan Ellsworth: I would love to hear what kind of feedback you're receiving from people who have gone through the program and/or have graduated from the program and all that stuff. I'd love to hear some success stories.
Shawn Feurer: Okay, let's dive into some success. I mean, and it's financial success. It's health and wellness. I've had people stop smoking cigarettes, stop smoking pot, not drink as much, reduce anxiety medication.
One of my favorite wins is one of my contractors, his young daughter in high school was in a boating accident. Traumatic event, right? Caused physical damage to her body, caused a lot of damage. She became over-anxious. She went from an extroverted girl to an introverted girl. She got anxiety, would not fly. This family travels a lot and she wouldn't travel with them. About two years ago, he put her in my women's group program. She did a couple rounds of Inner BluePrint. Today she flies almost every other week. She's not afraid of airplanes. She's her extroverted, bubbly self again. She's now going to college. They live in Florida, she's in Nashville going to college, living independently.
I mean, she was afraid of her own shadow. This event had her afraid of her own shadow, and she is a beautiful, powerful girl, woman. She was on a path of recluse, of hiding out, of being afraid of everything. We've totally transformed it. Her dad is actually the gentleman I mentioned that thought he wasn't educated. He now shows up in every conference. He goes to every event and he shares like he's got a PhD. And so that's been a turnaround. His business revenue's always been high. He's a 30 plus million dollars company. His net profit is higher than it's ever been by applying the principles of mind set to the processes he already had in place. Been really cool.
I had another gentleman I was working with. He's a roofing production manager for a large company. He was struggling at work. His employer was really concerned about him. His employer reached out to me. I do behavioral profiles as part of this work, so I have people take a survey. I see what their behavior style is, I see what their motivator is. This guy was perfect for the job and he'd been with the company for a long time, so you have to say, "What's going on?" We bring him into my program. We start doing some mind set work. In the intake call I found out that a year and a half ago, after 30 years of marriage and after she retired from her job, his wife died. Emotional event. His purpose for living gone. No wonder he wasn't showing up at work the way he could. He was dealing with this trauma, this grief.
Through my material, through my program, he's shifted some of that. He's gone to more gratitude trying to find what he can. He's really creating repurpose because he's not an old guy. She died way too young. He's got a lot of life ahead of him, and so that's a success story that now he's actually shown up in his personal life better. He's been going to more events, getting himself out there. He didn't want to date again. He didn't want to be out in the single world, and life forced him to. And so that's been a huge win.
Oh my gosh, I could go on. I had another. A sales rep that had plateaued at about a million and a half a year in sales making about 150,000. Two to three years, he's in his mid-20s, we get on a call. He's like, "Shawn, I make more than both my parents ever did, and I feel guilty about it." His parents were blue collar hard workers. He's wearing khakis and shorts running around measuring pool cages in sunny Florida. He just had some programming and I gave him permission. The programs helped him step into, it's okay to make way more than your parents. If your parents don't like that, that's an issue. Ish-them not an ish-you, right?
Megan Ellsworth: Love that. Ish-them.
Shawn Feurer: My wife, Caitlyn, she says that all the time. If I'm getting in my head, she goes, "Shawn, that's not an ish-you. That's an ish-them. Stop worrying about that. You can't control that."
My office manager that worked for me in operations for a couple years, when she first started with me, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was single. She had a lot of negative energy from her father of her son. With my program, she did some a lot of work. She actually beat breast cancer. She attracted her new husband and she left me to go start her own new business. It was amazing. It was amazing.
Yeah. If you're familiar with EOS, entrepreneurial operating system, she's an EOS coach. She was already systemizing my business. I'm like, "You have a knack for this." I actually hired her back as my EOS coach, and she's now coaching lots of people. Yeah, we can keep going and going.
Megan Ellsworth: That's awesome. Wow.
Shawn Feurer: Actually, let me share this one. Megan. This one's my favorite because it's my story.
In 2014, if I rated myself on my trifecta, I was a two out of 10 on my money. I'd short sold a home. I'd walked away from my family business. I was barely paying 500 bucks a month rent to live in my buddy's basement. I was going through divorce. My kids have been turned against me. I was being recommended to be on prescriptions for anxiety, depression. I was told my hormones... I was a mess. Relationships, as I mentioned, I didn't know it at the time, but I was two years from divorce. My four kids were going to be turned against me through the divorce. I was a mess.
I used everything that's entered at BluePrint to turn it around, and I wrote myself a letter in 2014. I still have it. I have a video of me reading the letter. If I showed it to you, you'd be like, "Who's that guy? I don't even know who that guy is. He's sad. He's out of shape. He's depressed. He's broke."
2023 was the best year of my life. In that letter, I wrote present tense how I wanted my life to be. None of it was true. I talked about my powerful mind. I talked about my health and wellness. I talked about all my money. I talked about my beautiful relationships. None of it was true then. As of December 31st last year, it's all true. My money's better than it's ever been, my health and wellness. I met the love of my life four years ago. We were married on December 31st. I have two beautiful bonus daughters that were added to my life. I have two French Bulldogs, two lovebirds.
I'm surrounded by beauty on the outside because I did this work. Again, I'm a vulnerable coach. I don't teach this material. I live it each round we do of Inner BluePrint. I do it with the group. I listen to the videos every day. I do the writing work. I share vulnerably on the calls. It really is powerful to have somebody working with you that has a little bit more belief because they've seen...I mean, my life is a living example of Inner BluePrint. I mean, people say, "Shawn, you're living the dream." I travel all the time. I work with amazing people. I get celebrated at conferences and I deserve it, and I earned it. I did the work on the [inaudible 00:25:59] Yeah, that's a little bit of a selfish story, but I love sharing it because it's powerful.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah no, that is powerful. That's so powerful. I think that's the kind of story that people want to hear, too. Like you said, you're living it. You're not just talking about it. This is your actual life. This is your passion. I think that's beautiful.
Going into the future, if you were to write another letter to yourself that you would read in 10 years, what are some future developments or expansions that you foresee for this BluePrint program?
Shawn Feurer: Yes, and it's so funny because I've been reading that old letter for two years, sharing with clients and this last round, I was doing the work with them. In her BluePrint, one of the modules, you're supposed to write the letter. One of my dear friends, a powerful woman who's in my women's group, she said, "When's your next letter?" I actually just wrote it a month ago, Megan, so I've got-
Megan Ellsworth: Oh, that's awesome.
Shawn Feurer: It's a letter written present tense when I'm 60 years old. I talk about how I'm going to keep working until I'm at least 80. Why would I retire? I'm having way too much fun and I'm helping too many people. Inner BluePrint is worldwide at that point. I've got coaches certified in 26 countries and 26 different languages sharing this message outside of the home improvement world.
For the home improvement world, we currently don't have many in-person events but in 10 years, we're going to have in-person events where people can come together. Like the contractor events that we have in place now, but it'll all be about mind set and be a little bit broader audience where you can bring not only the business owner, but employees, sales professionals. Some of my companies the wife's the owner and the husband's in the business. Some of them, the husband's in the business, the wife isn't. I have a women's group.
I just like to get more people involved. The ripple effect in the family. For me right now, and you're younger than me, Megan, 18 to 25 is hard in this world. You're getting pulled in political directions. You're getting pulled in religious, even gender. I mean, we've just got all this craziness, and what a better program in BluePrint to help people pull back the layers and say, "Okay, is this true for me? Is this true for me?" Instead of listening to the talking heads on social media and in some of the colleges, some of the bad information that's been put in the public school and public education system, I would love for a nonprofit program to be in place within the next 10 years to spread this into the school system so 18 to 25-year-old early college and graduates get a chance to...
It took me 40 years to realize some of my beliefs weren't mine and weren't serving me, and if I can help... My young student who's only 20 years old, her dad tells me all the time, "I wish I had her awareness. I wish I had her mind set." Now that she's overcome her challenges, she's more mature than most 40 year olds as far as her awareness of how her mind works and how she can create better results in her life. Those are just a few of the things. For me, I put in there I want to be traveling the world, speaking, teaching this material. I might have a few houses in some exotic locations. I have fun with it, right? Why wouldn't you?
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Speak it into being for sure.
Shawn Feurer: Yes, yes.
Megan Ellsworth: Okay, pivoting, how does this all play into the MetalVue program? If a contractor is a part of the Metalvue program, how can they get in with BluePrint?
Shawn Feurer: Yeah, so again, what I love about the MetalVue program is you guys are putting together tools and resources to help business owners improve their business, right?
The one thing I found is every tool or resource that you have available, my mind set just makes it work better. If it's a sales process, my mind set will help you. If it's a financial planning, even if it's a marketing, a credit card processing, a payment financing, selling financing, home improvement payments, it's a mind set. Everything that's already in the program, what I do will just help it work better. I've worked with lots of companies that they found all this material first, the systems and they didn't work for them. And then they found the mind set.
I just had a guest on my podcast that he found me before he found the processes and he's having more success. I would challenge you. If anything I've talked about resonates, let's get to work on you first. Because everything in the middle of your program that you want to implement in your business will work better if we get you implementing into you better. I do one-on-one strategy calls. If they want to reach out to me, set up a call. You can get sold into the program. I do group programs for if you've got a few sales people you want to put into a group. I've got a leaders group. I've got the women's group, takes a phone call.
I do offer, and anybody in the program, I will do one free behavioral profile for an owner of the company for free. It's up to about a $500 value. You get 45 minute debrief with me. You get a 26-page report that breaks down two things. How you show up. If I put you in a room, your level of assertiveness, extraversion, steadiness, rule following or rule breaking and then it breaks down your motivators. Are you driven by money? Are you driven by power, knowledge, helping people, beautiful things? That one call alone I've had huge breakthroughs with people, just a better understanding of self. Yeah, one phone call, one text message away from you getting involved.
Again, in the home improvement world, in the roofing world, I know there's the hard-nose closers. I don't sell this work. You have to choose into it. I will never close anybody. Because if you're not ready to do some deep diving on yourself, there's no point in me pushing you into it. I always say with this type of work God's timing is perfect. Sometimes early, never late, when the time's right, the teacher will show up for the student. If I'm your teacher, I'll do it with you. I won't sit and lecture you. I'll do the work with you.But if you're called that there might be something in your life that you could benefit from doing some mind set work, just reach out to me.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah. Oh, that is so great, Shawn. Anyone out there listening, how can they contact you? What's your website and where can they find you?
Shawn Feurer: Okay, so the best way I have, it's like a Linktree. You can do it on your phone or on a desktop, it's Shawn F, so S-H-A-W-N F, 360.com. When you pull that up on your phone, you can save it as a contact. It's got a link to all my social media. It's got a button "Schedule a call with Shawn." It's got my website. Again, if you want to go just to my website, it's shawnfeurer.com, S-H-A-W-N-F-E-U-R-E-R .com. From there, you can even book a time to talk to me.
If you're not ready to make an investment in yourself and you want good information, I drop free videos every single day on this. I try and be very specific. I always tie it back to, here's the mind set hack. Here's how it'll benefit in your life.
If you want another free resource, read the book Think and Grow Rich. Read it a couple times. Everything I do starts with definite of purpose, deciding what you want, the power of auto-suggestion. These are all chapters in the book. I've read them a bunch of times, I've studied them and that's a free resource. You can just start the process of working on your mind.
Because I know for a lot of people this is brand new. Especially when I talk about affirmation with roofers, you want me to stand in the mirror and say, "I love myself"? I said, "Well, some days you stand in the mirror and say you hate yourself." You do. Sometimes you stand in the mirror and you say, "Where did this belly come from? I don't want this belly." Or you say, "I messed up yesterday." You're negatively affirming yourself every day, so I just help people change this story a little bit.
Megan Ellsworth: Change that.
Shawn Feurer: Yeah.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah. Shawn, this has been so amazing. They can also find all of your information on the BluePrint program through MetalVue and metalcoffeeshop.com on the MetalVue directory. Everyone go check it out. Get in touch with Shawn.
Shawn Feurer: Can I leave one more nugget of-
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah.
Shawn Feurer: I love giving free [inaudible 00:33:52] can I give one more?
I wear this around my wrist. One of my clients has that tattooed. This is a mathematical formula I use to stay in control in any situation, and it's called E + R = all. The E stands for the events in life, and I spent 40 years trying to control events I couldn't. I don't control the weather. I don't control people that I love and care about not showing up. I don't control the economy, right? A lot of frustration comes.
The first step is let go of control. The events are going to happen. They're not good, they're not bad, they just are. Again, I've lost both my parents. I recently had my younger brother pass away too young. I've had a lot of events that are very challenging. I don't control any of it. What I do control in that formula is the R. and it can be one of two R's: an emotional reaction, which will create a bad outcome or a challenging, higher perspective response. And so I try and respond in every moment when something happens, the event, it's not good, it's not bad, it just is, I try not to react. I still do. I'm human. I still react. I get road rage. I get frustrated. I punch the couch every once in a while, right?
But if we can control the reaction and turn it into a response, then we control the outcome for us. And so as you're going through with some new awareness on mind set, just always think about that. You don't control the events, but you always control your response. The better we respond in every situation, the better outcome we get.
I've always said, a happy life is just a string of happy moments. I can choose happy even in the most challenging moments. Go out there and E + R your way to better results in your life.
Megan Ellsworth: Oh, yes. You heard the man. Go do it.
Shawn, I can't thank you enough. This has been so opening mind-opening, educational. I am so excited to do a deeper dive into BluePrint. Thank you for being a part of the MetalVue program and providing this awesome service to what a great industry, to the roofing and metal construction industry. Thank you.
Shawn Feurer: I mean, I was introduced to the industry at six years old. It's brought a lot of money, a lot of purpose to my life. One last thing, you're not a roofer. You're a protector of the home, and the home is a safe space. It's where we bring babies home to celebrate birthdays, holidays and so I love being able to give back to this industry by helping the owners, sales professionals and employees that I work with really bring value to themselves so they can take value into people's homes.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah, absolutely. It's so true. Everybody needs a roof.
Shawn Feurer: They do.
Megan Ellsworth: It's the most integral part of the home, and it protects all your favorite things and favorite people.
Shawn Feurer: It does. There's nothing worse than waking up in the middle of night hearing water dripping from one of your ceilings in your... I've had leaks in my roof. I have. There's nothing worse. When you hire the wrong roofer-
Megan Ellsworth: Nothing worse.
Shawn Feurer: Oh, it's a nightmare.
Megan Ellsworth: Yeah, yeah. Thank you again so much.
Shawn Feurer: Thank you.
Megan Ellsworth: This has been fabulous.
Shawn Feurer: Thanks for what you're doing to help the industry, too. I appreciate everything you guys do at the Coffee Shop, so thank you.
Megan Ellsworth: Aw. Yeah, absolutely.
