Recently, Coffee Shops™ Editor Lauren White got the chance to sit down with Martin König from MetalForming. Martin’s story actually begins across the pond in Germany where he spent 17 years working for Jaguar Land Rover. They had him make the move to the U.S. in 2012 and he eventually found his way to MetalForming in 2018. Now, seven years later, Martin is the executive vice president for the company!
In his role today, he works with coordinating logistics between warehouses, internal teams and clients. This gives him great insight on how MetalForming has established their reputation for exceptional service and support teams. He explained to Lauren, “We've been doing this for 25 years, so that means we have 25 years of experience servicing those machines. We have a huge catalog of experience and also knowledge database that we can leverage to get machines running and a lot of our people have been with us for over 20 years, so they have seen it all.”
And it’s those people with decades of experience who truly make MetalForming service offerings so good. Martin shared a bit about how that team operates, saying, “I have roughly 35 people in the back office. 15 of those people are traveling technicians and another eight people are technical support remotely.” So every call, message, email or website inquiry comes to Martin’s technical support team.
From there, it is assigned to the right person on his team to call that customer and help them work through solutions to get their machinery up and running again. Martin explained, “We can actually access most of the machinery, especially the higher end machinery remotely. So we can determine at least what is needed to get that machine back up and running. But of course, if you can't solve it remotely, we have to send a technician out to meet a customer to get those machines running. We really try to move mountains for our customers.”
