Since 1983, the Metal Construction Association (MCA) has worked tirelessly to promote the use of metal in the building envelope. From marketing and education to advocating for public policy changes and initiating research and testing, MCA has eliminated barriers to metal’s use in construction. Jeff Henry, the executive director of the Metal Contractors Association (MCA), stopped by The Coffee Shops recently to chat about everything their members (who are manufacturers, contractors, designers and any other professional that work with metal) are doing and why others should consider joining them!
Membership in associations like MCA is incredibly beneficial, Jeff explained, “Two of the most powerful things any association provides its members is a network of peers and the access to resources. Joining MCA proves easy access to a vast network of other professionals, providing opportunities to discuss current challenges and issues and receive the benefit of their insights or feedback.” Associations also have access to experts outside the industry, like legal professionals, that can offer business insight that is inaccessible for individual professionals. Jeff summarized, “The shared experiences and the opportunity to share resources in solving problems is one of the biggest advantages of participation in in any trade association.”
In addition to these general benefits, this year MCA is emphasizing their education initiative. The goal of this is to provide a wide array of educational sessions covering different parts of the metal industry. This includes the launch of a quarterly webinar series for members, the launch of a future leaders program and contractor/installer training initiatives. In addition to helping you be more informed about the industry, these courses are also an opportunity to earn some or all of your annual CE requirements without having to travel to an in-person training.
