The Importance of Your Google My Business Listing

Being on the Google algorithm’s good graces is an important part of getting your business the recognition it deserves. Check out these tips from a Grosso University and Hatch eBook to improve your Google My Business results.  

Google My Business (GMB) is an important tool for businesses to increase their visibility on Google Maps and Google Search. By managing your GMB listing, you have the best chance to show up in the top three results on the map when users search for your services locally. Showing up in the top three results on Google Maps is most ideal for engagement. The Search Engine Results Page (SERP) structure includes Google guaranteed ads at the top, search ads, the "3-pack" Google map results, and organic search results. 

To make your company stand out, it's important to be aware of the ranking factors that Google considers, including web properties, social profiles, Name, address and phone number accuracy, and reviews. Additionally, you should optimize your profile to be specific, list accurate categories for your business, and include relevant services and your main address. You can also include your service areas for broader coverage. Consistency is important, so make sure your company name, address and phone number are formatted consistently across all your web pages. 

To stay on top of your GMB listing, schedule one hour every week to check in, post two photos per week, create one GMB post per week, reply to Google reviews, answer questions and monitor and fix any NAP issues. To convert leads, make sure to direct them to the right page and follow up as soon as possible. Automating your outreach and follow-up strategy can increase your chances of closing a deal.
