Speed up business processes with AI

Speed up business processes with AI

MCS Influencer Travis Sliger says AI-powered tools can crunch numbers fast.

Editor's note: The following is the transcript of a live interview with MCS Influencer Travis Sliger. You can read the interview below, listen to the podcast or watch the recording.

AI should enhance, not replace, human interactions. At the end of the day, homeowners aren’t just looking for the best deal — they want to work with someone they can trust. People still value real relationships, and no amount of automation can replace the handshake, the eye contact and the confidence of dealing with a knowledgeable contractor who has their best interest at heart. That’s why customer-facing interactions should stay human-to-human.

AI is a tool, not a crutch. It can handle a ton of the behind-the-scenes work — scheduling, ordering, billing, measuring, quoting — freeing up time for contractors to do what they do best: helping homeowners make smart decisions about their homes. When used the right way, AI doesn’t take away the human element; it enhances it. By automating tedious tasks, it allows contractors to focus more on the personal side of the job, building trust, answering questions and making sure customers feel heard.

Take estimating, for example. AI-powered tools can crunch numbers fast, pulling measurements and material costs together with precision. But that estimate still needs a real person to double-check the details and walk the homeowner through their options. AI should never be the final decision-maker — it should be a supporting player that makes sure nothing falls through the cracks.

When used ethically, AI makes everything run smoother. It helps contractors stay on top of follow-ups, generate accurate estimates and keep projects on schedule. It can also increase efficiency to the point where a single person can do the work of two or three, which means contractors can offer more competitive pricing without sacrificing quality. That’s a win for homeowners and a win for the business.

Bottom line: AI isn’t here to replace people. It’s here to make sure contractors can focus on what matters — delivering top-notch service, building relationships and making sure homeowners feel confident in their investment. Trust is the foundation of this business, and AI, when used the right way, can help strengthen that foundation rather than weaken it.
