The International Staple Nail and Tool Association (ISANTA) is seeking comments from the public on the proposed revision of ANSI SNT-101-2015, the American National Standard for Power Tools: Safety Requirements for Portable Compressed-Air-Actuated Fastener Driving Tools. ANSI SNT-101-2015 contains safety requirements for tool manufacturers, tool purchasers, and tool operators and is intended to safeguard people and property from accidental hazards arising from the use of compressed-air-actuated fastening tools, often referred to as “nail guns.”
The public review period ends Tuesday, September 6, 2022. The standard with proposed revisions can be downloaded from isanta.org/technical-resources/Tool-Safety-Standards or requested by emailing ISANTA Executive Director Jeff Henry at jhenry@isanta.org. Comments must be sent to both psa@ansi.org and jhenry@isanta.org by 5 p.m. CDT September 6.
Members of the public also are invited to consider serving as members of ISANTA’s canvass body. Canvass body members review proposed revisions to the standard and vote to affirm whether the standard is renewed as a national standard. Additional stakeholders representing the General Interest category are needed. The General Interest category is defined as:
General Interest: Distributors, safety professionals and others interested in power-fastening tools and other persons concerned with or responsible for the safe use of power-fastening products.
Individuals or organizations interested in participating should contact Jeff Henry at jhenry@isanta.org.
