Instant Roofer delivers innovative, technology-based solutions to friction-points in the traditional process of lead generation. In this MetalCast, Heidi J. Ellsworth spoke to Jeff Berzolla, the founder of Instant Roofer. When he started working in the industry, he was primarily working in the solar field. He explained, “Hawaii, where I am located, has the highest cost of electricity in the United States, so solar is quite big across the islands. And so we were doing consulting, marketing, building websites and technology for these solar companies.”
It wasn’t until 2022 that he founded Instant Roofer and started working more specifically in the roofing industry. One of the things that the company is incredibly proud of is being funded by roofers. Jeff explained, “I think that makes us quite a bit different in this space. A lot of our mission and vision comes from the roofing community of people who are frustrated with that, which is going on in Legion and technology.” This is what drove one of their biggest product offerings — exclusive roof replacement lead generation software!
This helps both contractors and homeowners have a better experience when it comes time to replace a roof. Traditional lead generation sites send multiple contractors the same lead; sometimes more than a dozen companies get the same lead! This makes the process confusing, overwhelming and frustrating for everyone involved, which is why Instant Roofer offers a free, no-catch software to replace these traditional options. Jeff explained, “A lot of the technology out there is expensive, long contract commitments, nickel and diming in regard to things like increased service areas and stuff like that. But we've really come in from the other side of the industry, which is to do a great job, offer a lot of our products for free, make sure we're exceeding expectations and then let contractors move through the experience and our technology as it's working for them.”
The other main product Instant Roofer offers is their free roofing calculator that can be embedded directly into a roofer’s website. Jeff explained how this works, “Traditionally when you think of marketing on a contractor's website, there's three different flavors of traffic. You have your organic traffic, you have your paid traffic and then direct traffic where they just type in your URL. And what we've seen is when contractors are embedding this technology on their website to provide instant estimates, as well as the instant measurement, that conversion rates across the board for all sources of that traffic go up.” Essentially, by making the contractor’s site more seamless and accessible for homeowner use, Instant Roofer is making contractors more competitive.
