Dahlenburg Roofing started using Rocky Mountain Snow Guards products in the 1990s. So it’s no surprise that when they had a tricky situation come up with the St. Augustine Church in Denver that they turned to the snow retention company for assistance.
The old church, built in 1912, was falling apart. Especially the bell steeple tower. Water was coming off the steeple roof, damaging the bricks and mortar. After scaffolding was put up and the project inspected, an unusual suggestion was made by Dahlenburg Roofing. Add in a gutter system to protect the bricks and mortar from more water damage.
That’s when they realize they had another problem. The steeple had never had a gutter installed, so how were they going to keep the gutter from falling down if there was an avalanche of ice and snow?
The unique solution involves installation of Drift II fence style snow guard system around the steeple to protect the new gutter system that is used to divert the water. While the renovation is still in progress for the church roof and steeple, the snow guard system is doing its job… and the water is no longer gushing down the sides of the church.
For their creative work on the snow fence installation, Dahlenburg Roofing out of Wheat Ridge, CO was named the Runner Up Winner in the “Most Impressive Fence Style Snow Retention System Project” category in the 2024 Show Us Our Snow Guards Contest sponsored by Rocky Mountain Snow Guards.
