Across the nation, 19,000 blood drives were cancelled at the start of the pandemic due to coronavirus concerns. After reformatting the protocol to set up and run the drives, American Red Cross was able to meet immediate patient needs. Blood shortage was critical, and the need was urgent, so Antis began providing up to 6000 square feet of sanitized office space at Antis Campus to host a series of blood drives. From April to December 2020, Antis hosted a total of 22 blood drives, with 579 donors and 529 units of blood donated, resulting in 1,587 possible lives saved! Fourteen more blood drives are already scheduled for 2021. To schedule an appointment to donate, go to: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give
What began as a small act of kindness—a single delivery of 300 meals from Wahoo’s Fish Taco to Hoag Hospital in Irvine, California — turned into an astounding sea of collaboration resulting in the delivery of well over 12,000 meals/treats/beverages/PPE/Antis hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes to frontline heroes and those in need during the coronavirus pandemic. To date, we have made over 190 deliveries, as well as donations of 500 backpacks, to local families and organizations—from Los Angeles to San Diego—including CHOC Children’s Hospital, UCI Medical Center, Hoag Hospital, UCLA Medical Center, Dignity Health Community Hospital of San Bernardino, Dodger Stadium Testing Site and numerous police stations and firehouses.
The founding “droppers” include Wahoo’s, Antis Roofing, Blue C Advertising, Yogurtland, Coyle, 95.5 KLOS’s Heidi and Frank, Cholula Hot Sauce, Monster Energy and Hint Water. We have gained tremendous support from organizations including but not limited to Enterprise Data Solutions (EDS), Subaru of America, Carlson & Jayakumar LLP, Shimano Inc., Kirksey and Company, North Men’s Wear, Constellation Brands, Boston Beer Co., Left Coast Brewing Company, B Candy, Yeti, Loan Depot, Vans, Drake’s Organic Spirits, Fortis Resource Partners and The Purist Group among others.
OneOC held their annual Charity Challenge and awarded Antis Roofing the 2020 Best Overall Project Award for their partnership with CA Love Drop.
Antis Roofing has partnered with Ronald McDonald House Charities since 2016. Antis adopted the Orange County Ronald McDonald House, Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House and San Diego Ronald McDonald House through a partnership our Founder & CEO, Charles Antis, initiated with the Roofing Alliance and Ronald McDonald House Charities to provide ongoing roof repairs and maintenance for the houses to help families with critically ill children stay together under a safe and dry roof.
Antis also participates in the Meal of Love programs at the Orange County, San Diego, Inland Empire, Los Angeles and Long Beach Ronald McDonald Houses to make meals for the families. We encourage our clients, Antis staff and stakeholders to participate. When the coronavirus pandemic hit and volunteers were no longer allowed to come to the houses, Antis had catered meals delivered safely to each of the houses so families could still have a home-cooked meal while staying close to their sick kids. In 2020, Antis has provided six meals of Love to the Southern California Ronald McDonald Houses.
In addition to continuing to serve on the Board of Directors, Charles is co-chairing the Capital Campaign for the Orange County House, raising over $10 million of the $12 million goal to expand the size of the house. Charles Antis, along with Antis employees, has also enthusiastically promoted the Rock the Socks initiative for the Ronald McDonald House of Orange County. The goal is to increase awareness of how much vital care and support the House provides for families with sick children and to encourage ongoing donations. Rowdy participants show off their loud striped socks as a reminder on designated days. This fun and effective campaign has been championed by news weatherman Henry DiCarlo (KTLA 5), Wing Lam, Founder of Wahoo’s Fish Taco, and most recently, Frank and Heidi of the 95.5 KLOS Frank & Heidi Show.
“There were a lot of ‘never-befores’ at Antis Roofing before this year. We never had a blood drive, we never delivered food before, and we didn’t have a firsthand understanding of food insecurity. We do today because we are in a different world….a hyper-adaptive world. Our company was built around philanthropy and because of that, we can adapt our efforts quickly to what is needed NOW. In a less-secure world we are more job-secure and our brand is relevant! I am proud that our medium-sized company is in a position of leadership and positive influence…we are creating the world we want to live in. When we look back on 2020 we’ll remember building bridges!” – Charles Antis, Founder & CEO, Antis Roofing & Waterproofing.
