Metal buildings are all around us, you just might not notice them all! In the “Travels with Tony” series, the Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) explores a variety of incredible metal buildings around the world. In the videos, Tony, who is the MBMA general manager, gets to explore some incredible spaces (like the Starshine Texas event facility and the Bay Insulation headquarters and plant) and find out why a metal building was the right choice when each space was being built.
The latest video (fifth in the series) documents Tony’s visit to the home of BMX in the United States. The facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma includes a 25,000 square-foot, two-story metal building that houses the organization’s headquarters and hall of fame/national museum, as well as the 125,000 square-foot arena that has a full-length BMX course and 6,000 spectator seats.
“Metal building systems were the go-to choice for this center,” notes Tony, “as they provided the flexibility the organization desired in the headquarters and museum areas as well as the unobstructed clear-span for the track. It’s a great place to visit and to ride in!” He also pointed out how the headquarters and track provide great examples of the versatility and adaptability of metal buildings, “I am constantly amazed at what our MBMA members produce.”
“Travels With Tony” also visited Tulsa in the recently released, “Hardesty Center for Dance Education” video, which showed off the Tulsa Ballet’s home. He also went international in a short visit to a metal building manufacturer in New Zealand.
