The Future of the Innovative Falcon Measuring Tool

MTL’s Falcon Measuring Tool is the future of roof measurements, and it’s only getting more advanced. 

The roofing industry has seen some major advancements in technology over the past decade, and it would be impossible to have that discussion without the mention of the Falcon Measuring Tool from Metal-Era. On a recent episode of Roofing Road Trips, vice president of product and engineered services at Metal-Era, Eric Younkin, sat down with Heidi J. Ellsworth to discuss the future of the tool. 

The Falcon Measuring Tool is very fast, but new advancements are going to make the tool even faster. “We are working on a second-generation tool that will allow our RTSs, all 10 of them that are strategically located to be able to get up and use the tool more efficiently.”  

The next thing that the company is planning to do is add more geometries to the recognition software. “Right now, [the tool is] measuring straits and radiuses and corners but adding more and more geometries that are complex to make it easier to measure, [and it will] take away a lot of the guessing.” Eric explained.  

When asked what the next generation of the tool will look like, Eric explained to Heidi, “The sky's the limit. There's a lot of possibilities. We know what we can do now, we know what we want to do next, but looking down the road, we really want this to really make edge metal as simple as possible because we know at the end of the job it's the last thing to go on. The sooner you get it on, the sooner they can get the warranty issued and they're onto the next job.” The future of this roofing technology is truly a marvel and will be a staple in the industry for years to come.
