In a recent episode of MetalCast, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Brian McLaughlin and Jim Alexander from Drexel Metals to offer up some of their expertise in metal roofing as well as talk about their company’s commitment to quality and some great programs that are reshaping the way contractors do business.
Established in 1985, Drexel Metal began as a broker servicing the military and quickly transformed into a leading metal roofing manufacturer. This evolution underscored their emphasis on innovation, which was further amplified after their 2017 acquisition by Carlisle. Among all this growth, Brian assures their continuing dedication to quality, saying, "Our products are 99% American made, that really carries a lot of weight with it as well."
One of the game-changing initiatives is the Drexel Metal Regional Manufacturing (DMR) program. Brian shared, "We have a program called the DMR. It's a regional manufacturing program and the first part of that is certifying those that are fabricating our product." This initiative supports regional manufacturers, enabling them to source coil material from Drexel Metal, resulting in reduced shipping costs and increased local market efficiency.
But the innovation doesn't stop there. The Sherwin-Williams MetalVue program, which Drexel Metal is a partner to, offers contractors a simplified process for their roofing projects. Jim, Drexel's southeast regional sales manager, noted, "The MetalVue program has so many different pieces to it... but for the most part, the program services that we offer enable contractors turn a quote around really quick and also provide all the backend."
"Our approach to the market and the programs that we offer gives the contractor a lot more control and a lot more flexibility... It takes a lot of guesswork out of the process,” Jim says.
