The NWiR Oregon council is thrilled to announce that the Betty Bop Summer Sock Hop raised an astonishing $11,550 dollars in support of the Remember Betty Foundation.

The poodle skirts twirled, the jukebox jived, and the 1950s spirit was alive and groovin’ at the unforgettable “Betty Bop” Summer Sock Hop hosted by the NWiR Oregon Council. On Saturday, August 5, 2023, the Warner Grange in Canby, Oregon was transformed into a time machine, taking everyone back to the era of sock hops, soda shops, and rock ‘n’ roll, all for an incredible cause.

Our council is thrilled to announce that the Betty Bop raised an astonishing $11,550 dollars in support of the Remember Betty Foundation. With a mission to help minimize the financial burden associated with breast cancer for patients and survivors, allowing them to focus on recovery and quality of life, the foundation is a beacon of hope – and one of few who gives direct financial assistance to both patients and survivors in need.

Devri Pieratt, Vice-Chair of the NWiR Oregon Council is a two-time breast cancer survivor. As a volunteer for the Remember Betty foundation for nearly ten years, and Captain of Team Betty Portland, she headed up the fundraiser.

Highlights of the evening included a silent auction, featuring over $6,000 in generously donated items, a 50/50 raffle (thank you to Ashley Pietsch, with Integrity Insurance, for generously donating your prize winnings back to the foundation!) and bingo, with cash prizes (some of which were also given back to the foundation). The hula hoop contests transported attendees to the times of carefree fun and the limbo contest kicked off with none other than Elvis himself making a special appearance!

The event was picture perfect, complete with photo ops that took guests back in time. An iconic 1963 convertible corvette was the star of the show, along with a soda shop backdrop that allowed attendees to capture the fun spirit of the ‘50s on a set of hot rod bar stools!

“It’s humbling to witness our local construction industry come together for such a special cause,” said Devri. “The success of the Betty Bop goes beyond the dollars raised; it’s yet another reminder of the positive impact we can make when we set our minds to something.”

As the jukebox fades and the bobby socks are put away, the NWiR Oregon Council extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped support the sock hop, making it an event for the ages. For more information about the Remember Betty Foundation, visit www.RememberBetty.com.
