Snow, the yellow labrador retriever puppy-in-training through the Freedom Service Dogs training program in Colorado, will remain in the Prison Trained K-9 Companion Program through the holiday season. She entered the program at about eight weeks old and is spending six consecutive weeks in the prison-run program working to receive her training on basic commands, socialization, potty and crate training.
As she progresses through the program, Snow, who is sponsored by Rocky Mountain Snow Guards, will next be placed with an approved “Puppy Raiser” through the Freedom Service Dogs program. That step of her training will last between 12 to 14 months.
“We have it on good authority that Santa will make a special fly-over stop to visit Snow on December 24th,” says Lars Walberg, with Rocky Mountain Snow Guards. “One of the elves has let it slip that there just might be a few new toys for her since she’s been a really, really good girl in her training program so far!”
