In an episode of the MetalCast™ podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth hosted Mark MacDonald of Sherwin-Williams to talk about the MetalVue program and accessing it through the Dealer Portal. This program took six and a half years to develop into the network and resource that it is today.
According to Mark, Sherwin-Williams realized there needed to be a go-between, something to bridge the spaces between contractors and clients and manufacturers to benefit all parties. He summed it up saying, “MetalVue is a way to get our manufacturers trained up and give the business in a box so they can service that type of contractor.”
The goal is to make a more efficient and integrated value chain. This means that manufacturers using the MetalVue program will have the tools and training to walk new customers who are not familiar with metal through the process and benefits and help them get the best end-product. In order to make this program as accessible as possible, Sherwin-Williams collaborated with Grosso University to create an entry point, called the Dealer Portal.
In action, Mark explained they wanted to make “a place that's one-stop shop where you can go in there, you can grab marketing collateral, you can grab digital, you can grab links to other products and services that may be associated with those products.” The Dealer Portal allows contractors and manufacturers to access all these types of information. It also gives them the training needed to take advantage of that information and the other resources included within the MetalVue program.
Overall, the MetalVue is all about meeting contractors and manufacturers where they are and helping them grow from there. As a part of that, they offer a seven-day free trial with no cost and no commitment. The trial lets the user enter through the Dealer Portal and, as Mark explained, "After that point they can tailor it to their needs. Maybe they want proprietary installation training. Maybe they want more information on their proprietary approach to certain roof structures with flashings and trim.”
