When Tom Graham moved into his house in Napoleon, Ohio, a few years ago, he knew the roof was leaking. Unfortunately, he never had plans to fix it due to finances. Having served in the Vietnam war, his niece signed him up for the National Roof Deployment Project, a partnership between Owens Corning and Support Our Troops that works to provide new roofs to military members and their families. Thanks to this program, Salinas Exteriors arrived this July to replace the roof completely free of charge.
During an interview with WTOL 11, Dominik Biddle, the project manager in charge of Tom’s project, noted how much damage the leak had caused, saying “three layers, the underside of the decking [was] completely covered in mold. Being able to give him a brand-new roof down to the sheeting, it’s indescribable.”
Salinas Exteriors is one of over 300 Owens Corning platinum preferred contractors that donate labor and materials to customers that meet the program criteria. As a company, they are honored to be part of this program and hope to continue installing roofs for veterans each year. “Once a year is our goal...there’s a small list of us, and to be able to give people top quality work for nothing is...we’re blessed,” he says.
Tom was overjoyed, and grateful to his niece for finding this program saying, “It’s wonderful that they’re so willing to help people out when they need it.” For Salinas Exterior the decision to partner with Owens Corning on this program is simple. As Dominik put it, “He’s a veteran, and he gave us enough... being able to give him something is what it’s all about.”
