In a live interview at METALCON, Heidi J. Ellsworth learns about the innovative strides made by SmartBuild Systems. Keith Deon, owner of SmartBuild Systems, discusses the remarkable advancements in building design software, primarily focusing on the automation of construction processes.  

SmartBuild has been revolutionizing how post-frame structures are designed, allowing for the creation of detailed drawings, material takeoffs, pricing and sales proposals through automation. This advancement has particularly benefited contractors and suppliers, streamlining their workflow and drastically improving efficiency. As Keith says, "What used to be about three and a half to four hours by hand down we can do in about 15 to 20 minutes." 

The conversation at METALCON focuses on their software’s ability to cater to all-metal buildings, highlighting its significant role in the MetalVue program. “It automatically generates a full set of drawings for that building, does a complete material take off, and it'll price out that building and generate a sales proposal," Keith explains. This connection between technology and roofing expertise transforms the bidding process for residential and commercial roofing, making it more efficient and precise.  

As the conversation shifts to SmartBuild's recent ventures, Keith reveals, "About three years ago, we converted the software to do all metal buildings," a strategic move that demonstrates the company's growth within the industry. Though this discussion wasn't just about efficiency, it highlighted the ease of entry SmartBuild's software provides to the metal construction sector. According to Keith, "What the technology is doing is kind of lowering the bar to entry."
