Picture this: you’re an employee at an electronics store and during your training, the person training you says, “Don’t forget to push those DVD players!” You’d be a little bit puzzled, wouldn’t you? Sales in roofing is really no different. You want to be current with the trends and up to date on sales methods. Dom Caminita of Grosso University understands this well and offered up his wisdom on a new episode of MetalCast.
Grosso University’s curriculum is based off the teachings and philosophy of contracting industry legend, Rick Grosso. His philosophies have been carried on by his successor, Dom Caminita. The motto he came up with for the school is, “Legendary training for the modern world.” Dom told host Heidi J. Ellsworth that he came up with the slogan a long time ago. “I was trying to think of how could I describe what it is that we do because of course we have the legendary foundational training of Rick Grosso,” said Dom. “But we're also not training things that once worked 40, 50 years ago.”
If you’re in the industry, it’s important to stay with the times. “If you're not evolving quickly in this business and really taking advantage of all the tools and technology we have, you're going to get steamrolled,” Dom continued. “So, we figured out this delicate way where we can keep the same foundational sales training that has always been there but evolve it in such a way where we're never training anything that works in theory... And that's something that frankly I can't stand, is when people are out there training sales professionals, or owners, or sales leaders on what maybe worked 20 years ago.”
