How to Stay Ahead in the Digital Age

METALCON Digital Age
May 19, 2023 at 12:00 p.m.

By Cayden Wemple.

Gain expertise from professionals in the “Planning for the Future of Your Business in a Digital Age” webinar from METALCON.

As Bob Dylan once said, “The times, they are a-changing,” and it’s up to business owners to stick with the times! In a live webinar from METALCON earlier this month, Heidi J. Ellsworth of MetalCoffeeShop and MetalCoffeeShop Influencer John Kenney of Cotney Consulting shared how companies could plan for the future of their business in the digital age. They talked about the future of metal construction and the digital landscape along with how the trends and economics may affect planning for your business.  They also reviewed the importance of business plans, organization systems, culture and the increasing importance of technology.

One of the main topics the conversation focused on was the metal construction technology trends,  including drones. John told Heidi, “Drones are interesting because when they started out they were a toy. When drones first came out people love to fly around in their yards but now they are really making a huge impact on the construction industry especially on the estimating side it has made huge impacts as far as getting your roof takeoffs and your building takeoffs and it's also starting to be used for safety and in operational tracking.”. John continued, “I think it's fantastic for taking the aerial photos and job progress and how the buildings are coming together so you're really starting to see. It’s not  an outside accessory anymore, it's really starting to move into mainstream and to be a part of most business operations. If you don't have it as a part of your company now, plan on it. I'm definitely seeing that people have plans to really start to interact with drones over the next 12 months. So, I’m seeing huge strides in that, and I think there's a lot of positives in it as well.”

Watch the webinar here to learn more about some of the advancements in roofing technology and how to stay ahead in the digital age.
