GT1 XL Gutters – A Quality XL Solution for Your XL Project Needs!

Eric Younkin shares why the latest gutter innovations from Metal-Era are changing the game, one install at a time!

Recently, the brand launched their new GT1 XL Gutter, a product designed with substantially large building projects in mind.  

In an episode of the Roofing Road Trips podcast, Heidi J. Ellsworth sat down with Eric Younkin, vice president of products and engineered services at Metal-Era, to discuss the product and its significance. As new codes have been adopted, it was important that they create a product that not only met the new codes but excelled in quality and performance.  

Eric shared, “What's really unique about this is we're able to minimize the amount of time the contractors are hanging over the edge of the roof by utilizing this lower mounting hanger and this gutter cleat to engage the gutter fast and tack it into place to hold it so, that way, we're not hanging over, putting in tons of fasteners and things like that.” 

One of the product’s unique features is its sturdiness, making it much safer to install and reduces installation time. “The safety of it is keeping people away from the edge as much as possible to minimize risk and then also being able to install more in a single day, getting the roofer off the job faster,” Eric explained. He continued, “The elimination of the external bracket is key, having the gutter sit directly into that bracket. A lot of times, there's repositioning of the bracket, depending upon how that gutter sits. We've eliminated that. Once we set the gutter into our lower mounting hanger, it's set, it's flush.” 

The product has been a great success so far, their team getting great feedback from contractors using the gutter in their projects. Eric shared that they’re seeing up to 60% labor savings because of how easy and quick it is to install. This product launch is a true testament to the dedication and intellect behind the engineering and design teams at Metal-Era, as Eric shared, “There's a lot of technology, a lot of intellectual property that goes into this. We're excited to bring this to market, help our contractors, help our building owners, help our consultants design these roofs. We're excited.”
