Growing the next generation of leaders - PODCAST TRANSCRIPT

MCS Influencer Eric Trefzger says continually learning and not thinking that we know at all, is really important because this industry is changing and it's evolving

The following is the transcript of a live interview with Eric Trefzger. You can read the interview below, listen to the podcast or watch the recording.

Intro: Hello, I'm Alex Toll here with rufuscoffeeshop.com and we have our September influencer topic. I'm here with Eric. How's it going, Eric?

Eric: Good.

Alex Toll: Good. So how do you help mature and grow skill sets in the next generation of managers?

Eric: Yeah. Great question. I think finding and training and developing managers, really any employees in a roofing company is one of the hardest parts of running a roofing company. Always hard to find good people. It's hard to train good people. It's hard to keep good people. So that is something that is always that top of mind.

Alex Toll: Absolutely.

Eric: That said, I think what we do at [inaudible 00:00:37] Everything and Exteriors is we have a culture where it's okay to make mistakes. It's okay to recognize that we don't know everything. It's okay to learn. And as long as you learn from that mistake and you learn from it as a company, it's not something we need shy away from it.

So I think with that, with the training, going to events like this, going on RoofersCoffeeshop.com and just continually learning and not thinking that we know at all, I think is really important because this industry is changing and it's evolving. And if you stay static and you're too afraid to fail and you stick to what you know, gets a little bit boring.

Alex Toll: I agree. That's so important to keep learning. You never can stop learning.

Eric: Absolutely.

Alex Toll: All right, well, thank you so much, Eric. This has been great.

Eric: Of course.

Alex Toll: Well, this has been your September influencer topic.

Outro: All right, good to see you.
