In Season 1, Episode 29 of MetalCast™, Karen Edwards sat down with four members of the National Frame Building Association (NFBA) to talk about their upcoming spring expo. The panel included NFBA President Robyn Ommen from Sherwin-Williams, Vice President Joe Shimp from Conestoga Buildings, Secretary Josh Nowlin from Burrows Post Frame Supply and Executive Director Megan Pope.
NFBA is the only national trade association for the post frame industry. Megan explained, “We do our best to promote the post frame industry and educate the public and owners about this method of construction they can use to build their buildings.” One of the ways they do this is through their expo, which is happening March 6-8 in Des Moines, Iowa at the event center. This is the 56th annual NFBA Expo and the board is incredibly excited about everything they have to offer. Josh shared that they have created it for everyone involved in the field, saying “Whether you're a business owner or an upper-level manager or if you're in maybe the sales and marketing field, or more technical related things, or safety, there are different education tracks.”
There’s something for everyone, including the construction teams that are on the ground. Joe described the experiences and demonstrations on the tradeshow floor and noted, “We’ll also have some contests again for nail pounding and screw driving.” Robyn chimed in about how excited she is for the networking opportunities for all areas of the field, saying “We can all learn from each other, so we make sure that we have those opportunities for that networking.” Josh added that he sees it as an "opportunity to kind of push our industry forward and improve what we are to the rest of the world in a sense.”
