A great part of attending trade shows and conventions like the International Roofing Expo (IRE) is getting to do hands-on learning. This can be facilitated in continuing education spaces but is also fostered on the trade floor as you naturally interact with those in booths around you. While at the 2024 IRE, the Coffee Shops crew got the chance to stop by MetalForming’s booth to learn about their new motorized folding machine, the Schröder PowerBend Multi (PBM).
The PBM is the successor to the MPB, which was an older folding machine made two decades ago. It was designed to be easy and fast to handle, along with having a high production output and versatile usability. Overall, the PBM is a powerful, well-rounded tool that should be a part of any metal professional’s tool kit. .
At IRE, David Prokop went into a little more detail about the machine during his demonstration. He explained, “One of the unique aspects of this machine is that the folding beam can be used in conjunction with the rotating clamping beam to hem. This is the only machine on the market that we can do a full capacity hem to what the machine can bend, which is 14 gauge over a 12-and-a-half-foot length, 13-and-a-half-foot length, or 14 gauge over a 10-and-a-half-foot length.”
With flexible folding performance, this machine is now one of the most capable products on the market. It has a graphic control POS 2000 Professional on swiveling arm based on Windows 10 operating system, an all-motorized axis on converter control and a motorized back gauge with retractable sheet support plates. It's operated with the use of a foot switch and even includes a tool cabinet with storage shelves!
