Four incredible women received scholarships to attend NWiR Days and IRE in Las Vegas, Nevada in February 2024 thanks to the N.E.W.S. Conference Attendee Program
For the sixth year in a row, the National Women in Roofing (NWiR) is proud to offer the Network or Educating Women Scholarship (N.E.W.S) for first-time contractor attendees to NWiR Day and the 2024 International Roofing Expo (IRE). The program is meant to encourage female identifying professionals working as contractors by providing professional development in the roofing industry and benefits for career growth and networking. This year, they offered four scholarships that provide attendance to NWiR Days, IRE tradeshow passes, hotel accommodations, roundtrip airfare and a super pass for educational sessions.
Congratulations to the winners this year! They will be attending NWiR Days and the IRE Convention this February 4-8, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Stephanie Johnson from Field Roof Service: Stephanie recently assumed a leadership role within her company, spearheading the commercial and residential estimating departments. While her professional journey is marked by dedication and growth, she is committed to maintaining a balance between her career and family life.
- Cara Martin from North American Roofing: Cara has worked in the industry since 2017 and takes pride in her current role as sales support manager. She is a first-year member of NWiR but has already connected with several amazing women and is looking forward to becoming a mentor to others in the future.
- Katina Houghton from Legacy Storm Restoration: Katina wears many hats in her company, working as a trainer, project manager and manager. She is very passionate about what she does and has been in the industry for seven years.
- Nadine Moffatt from Marine Roofing: Nadine is the health and safety manager for her company. When she first started in the roofing industry in the mid 1990s, she was the first female hired to work in the field, which presented a number of challenges. She became a red seal journeyman in 2002, paving the way for females to acquire that ticket, but soon found her niche in the safety sector. She loves encouraging and mentoring other women to get into the trades.
